Oblivion

Oh, what a strange yet seemingly typical phenomenon it is these days
But hearing of folks sinking into a state of forgetfulness -
Lying on their beds or in the public streets, drunk or stoned out of their minds.
It is most unfortunate that so many people today wish to
Vanish themselves from the world and bury themselves
In deliberate ignorance, unmindfulness, unawareness,
Or even complete unconsciousness to escape their miserable circumstances.
Nobody is meant to be perpetually oblivious unless they're in an actual coma!

Many helplessly sink into oblivion through dementia or Alzheimer's. But some deliberately invite oblivion as an escape from the harsh realities of life. Congratulations on your win dear Andrea

I could never understand weakness Andrea. I know it's around us, but I find facing life preferable to denying it. Great write! Congratulations on your win! :)
