Obey
When we were young, everything was easy.
Work was simple, school came second nature.
A career and dreams, hopes and adventures…
Reality is a fact, that sets like the sun,
altogether too early.
People lie to get what they want.
They do not change, as much as they reveal,
themselves.
What was funny before, irritates.
What was cute, now is simply stupid.
No patience, no enjoyment, no thought.
Chattel bought and paid for in advance.
“I am” the head of house, “I am” the King of all.
Spoken profanely against all that is right.
“You will cling, and I will use,
my fight… is airtight.
I win!”
Wake up cow, you have not yet been to the meat house.
The knife has not cut your throat, the hammer has not beaten your head.
There is yet time.
Go over the wall,
kick him in the teeth,
run for the gate,
it is not too late.
A life is waiting, just beyond, free from ties and hate.
A place where you are not a prize… or trophy.
