O World O Beauty
O’ world! O’ beauty! In colour and splash
from deep darkest fathom to alpine drift -
in molten rain, in shaking mountain ash
and in currents and winds and plates that shift.
Nomadic wildebeest in legions herd
million dark across an African plain,
and ‘neath the mighty taloned hunting bird
beasts of prey over a wild kingdom reign.
See singing whales lobtailing depth to shore
beach on burial sand - see on sea wing
great ocean albatross the upwinds soar
crag to pole with the emperor penguin.
Like the white cultured and wild oyster pearl,
lives our blue planet and natural world.
