Poetry or art can never flourish in a world where freedom of expression is denied. We should have the freedom to talk and express our thoughts without fear or favor. I don't know exactly what's the political situation in your country. But in general, men become dissatisfied most when freedom is denied. Throughout history, the most number of wars have been waged for freedom. Great thoughts, dear Joe.

Hi Valsa; you are obviously a person of high standards and wisdom, an increasingly rare combination. A lot of Europe trusts their enlightenment to CNN and BBC, which in my opinion, are news networks with little real news -- mostly, directly and indirectly bought government speak. Just my observations, but I am not a qualified critic on anything. Truth is, as I see it, in decaying Democrat run cities, in the US, or residing at our Southern Border, at night you are no safer than in Gaza and Ukraine on the front. In my unwashed opinion.

Hi Daniel; nothing wrong with it, but I know folks living outside of the US, not American born, many may not fully understand the depth of passion American's have when it comes to the subject of freedom. They forget how many of us, throughout modern history have died on foreign shores, not just for our own Freedom, when perceived threatened, but for the Right of Free Expression Globally. Everywhere, most human hearts, deep down, attest to Freedom's power and driving force unyielding.

Soup has rules members should rightfully follow. Having said that, Free speech is very valuable to Americans: We have cemeteries full with those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, to ensure its right and practice. Free speech means just that, speaking your mind at the risk of being offensive and disrespectful to others. There are already legal protections against slander, punitive ramifications for falsely yelling fire in a movie theater, causing needless panic, perhaps sadly leading to physical injury~ etc. There are also social ramifications: one may become an Out-caste, a spit-on Social Piranha -- but no one should be Big Brother gagged. Just my opinion. Blessings.

Truth is more important than insults and disrespect. But I respect your well meaning concerns, Victor -- I do not write to insult...but to elucidate. Someone already tried to take my candidate out with a bullet. And not the right way, at the ballot box. Many of Trump's adversaries seem to be playing hardball.

Good one! Well i can tell what flows beneath those words so well woven dear joe! Unfortunately, this is the new world! And i dont even know where to begin: but it is what it is. And i wish the world will be a better place for many! I do not usually mention God in my poems but ofcourse i do believe in God! And i have other ways of referring to God. But using God is ok too, but if i use “ Allah” which means the same, i wonder how many would react! I wish the world would accept differences gracefully . But like silent one said below i am not a patriot and i dont write also about politics or religion, i prefer rosies to write about haha sending you light alwayd,

Poets should be able to write about whatever they like, as long as it is not offensive to another person.. Writing about your nation and you religion, whichever one it may be, should never be restricted.. Although i never write about religion or my nation... but thats my point... lol

Exactly, poets should be able to express themselves freely -- could not agree more. Even if it is offensive speech, then the speaker will suffer the negative social consequences...but, free expression is worth the risk -- especially for artists. There are already laws against slander, yelling fire in a movie theater when there is no fire, etc...
