Not Writin a Poem Tonight

I'm not writin a poem tonight
no, the words just won't come.

Count the minutes since we parted ways
even though I know you know
only been a couple days..

No, I'm not writin a poem
my ears so sore from strings
of a mask worn all day
while I worked.

But, just so you know
if I was gonna write
I'd leave out the part about the mask
just write about the wonder
in all moments
we shared.

Wish the words would come
countin those long minutes
'til you're in my arms again
now that would be somethin'.

While virtually browsing (scrolling) thru poems linked to you, who invisibly (albeit electronically) follows me, I too often wish a whoosh of creativity would flow at my command.

That’s what they say to do……write that you can’t write……so glad the mask thing is dying out……stay strong. SuZ

Such sorrow, Zorro, who likes to wear a mask, does Lolita know who you are under that disguise, why not just rip it off, and give her one big surprise . . . ; )

Not wanting to write a poem, understandably tired of masks and yet you wrote this great poem. Well done Richard :)

I like the tongue-in-cheek feel of 'I'm not writing a poem tonight' - then of course putting together something that seems simple but has more layers of longing than it would appear, glad to read it, even if it's not a poem :)

It is sad we must wear masks all day. My daughter gets a rash on her pretty face from wearing hers. Love helps to heal and gives one something to look forward to. Blessings xxoo

Vijay, Thanks for that. I loved reading your latest poem 'Hope' this morning. 'Hope is a Lotus flower ~ Drowning in the night ~ Yet, rising through mud' You have a gift in describing details beautifully. The presence found in the highest mountain, to the smallest leaf falling forever on a gentle breeze. Glad to find this one. Hope you have a nice day friend. -Richard
