Not for Contest - Impact of AI on poets

Oh AI you are the tell I need Painted orange words in the feed Liars revealed that hide behind screens With false personas and insufficient means You provide generic words, never in tune The vibe is off, you've misread the room Fake spending time within a hearts space Analyse algorithms without an ounce of grace Forged connections you have plenty Call people friend as you bleed them empty To look back over that pot of gold The straw you spun to make emperor's clothes Hopeful faces are still raised to you As if you are a mirror of deeper truth But spewed out placebo doesn't heal It needed faith from hearts that feel Helpful AI, substituting for soul People craving perfection by patching holes It's the magic porridge pot all gone bad Let's try and go back to what we had Mismatched words tangled with dreams Flawed humans sharing ripped seams Seeing more of unadulterated humanity From those using words to save their sanity Who sought out a place for true acception Now sullied with so much deception AI doesn't improve poetic expression It just eats away until confession But confession will discredit your reputation It was a high price to pay for ego inflation

Ta Wen - it's a tricky issue but at the end of the day people are more important than words when it comes to the crunch x

Dilly, an excellent poem, I feel the same way. it's a shame that a few have to ruin it for the rest of us who do not use AI or plagiarize poems for the sake of fake recognition.

I would rather read lines that are written with heart and bleed on the page with sincerity, than some high brow plagiarized work. No one likes being made a fool of and deception leaves a bad taste in ones mouth. I love your poem, DD. This should be pinned on the Home page of PS as a reminder.

Just a brilliantly composed poem that delivers quite a punch., calls one to think carefully as to where fakery will lead. Once poetry abandons authenticity, it ceases to be poetry and assumes the sad shape of a charade. You have spoken from the heart my dear DD. and created a banner behind which all true believers in the sanctity of poetry will glady march. Well done.

Thank you Paul, your authenticity as a poet always shines and you have been nothing but generous to me as I have tried to embrace the art. We perhaps need a poets version of the magic circle - no tricks at all, just soul magic that only other poets recognise x

Brilliant!!!! Love everything about this. While i also am ok with artists that mention their work is ai generated, im against ai poets playing prolific, pretending their rhymes are real when it all sounds like robotic ruins! (Gosh i shud have saved that line for my ai poem) haha! I am and will always be against plagiarism! And i think plagiarists and cheaters, should find a better hobby, instead of misleading others. “ fame seeking” too can become an illness! Serious! Iv been plagiarized many times so i dont take it as a compliment but rather as an insult: pleasure reading your work dd: you are one of the authentic ones I enjoy reading

Thank you Ink! Robotic ruins - yes, definitely use that! Even in an AI and plagiarism scandal there's humanity. Whether that's a lesson or a sadness it's hard to tell. I can't identify with fame seeking at any cost, it's easy to project forward to see the fall from grace - therefore - like you say, we can assume illness. We don't need fake feeds in poetry though - it should be a step outside the badness in the world. Thanks for your comment x

I hate AI, as well. The egoistic are the AI programmers who hate us who have talent. To AI., Get a Life. Thanks to your poem, I went over the edge again.

Haha Hilda, AI will have a definite part in many things but poetry shouldn't be one of them unless it's labelled as such. I hope AI doesn't get a life because you gave permission haha :)

I think some people misinterpret what poetry actually is Dilly, humanity laid bare does it for me, of course I like clever word play too, once depth and personal creativity are the underpinning factors, AI has fooled me in the past mainly because I trusted a poet, your line (But spewed out placebo doesn't heal It needed faith from hearts that feel) perfectly described this, An exceptional poem, unfortunately fakes won’t get it, except perhaps the fact the net is closing in! A Fave cheers David

Thanks David, it was a quickly written one just to get the nasty taste out of my mouth really. Not written to gain favour or condemn but just to express that everyone loses out when this happens. Thanks for the kind words
