Not a Cloud In the Sky

Not a cloud in the sky, swear my eyes should be dry. Must've been thinking about you again, the only woman I see in my dreams every now and then. You're the only person I ever wanted to impress, you melted my heart anytime I saw you in a dress. Went to all those stupid parties cause I knew you'd be there, hoped I'd be lucky enough to get a kiss, my hand running through your hair. But you were always with another guy, all I ever got was the occasional hi, followed with an awkward bye. Not a cloud in the sky, I'm just out here looking at the stars, saw your snapchats, seen you've been going out to bars. I dream of a day, you'll wanna be home in a hurry, where you'll be out with your girlfriends, me not even worried. But that's not gonna happen, I'm out on the east coast feeling like I'm living a lie. And let's be honest I've never been that guy. That guy you had that crush on, that guy you'd kiss all up on. I'm just that guy, the one whose eyes aren't dry, the memories we never had making me cry. Such a beautiful night though, not a cloud in the sky. Wonder if you lie awake in your bed, wishing I were the one you wed.

Hi David and welcome to PS. I tend to agree with Darren on this poem. It would be easier to read if you broke it down into verses. Good poem keep them coming. x

This is rhyme, in case you wish to attach the correct form. I like your poem. A love that is not answered is very painful. I am not sure, but it reads like a poem you can perform on stage. When you write it here, for people to read, it might be better to split it into rhyming lines, or paragraphs. Welcome to PoetrySoup :)
