NO TITLE Our front lawn swarms with starlings Puff-black against white There’s been a wind-swirl overnight And the blips lay half covered The birds of course are carnivores Have small feast these days Their wasted meat now covered over An amazing bird Survives the fiercest storm Hated generally far and wide While those less worthy fowl are it seems glorified Well it’s color Or in this case lack of Winter Dead- ugly winter Has care for only black and white Bluebirds Cardinals Robins are rare They wait Wait to blend with spring Spring that discharged blunderbuss When zits of green infest and cover everything

Very interesting writing, Daver. But give it a title. I read somewhere once that all poems need titles! haven't seen you in a while. It was nice to run across this poem. What a great last line, the "zits" of spring! LUv, andrea

interesting poem Daver....sounds a bit melancholy of course "dead ugly winter " doesn't help. I remember it well enough to know I didn';t like it. Gotta tell you though... the Robins are here with me in Okeechobee fl. been here for a month or so. Just love them lil birdies! They will probably be heading back up yonder soon. Let you know when they take off from here. I'll say hello for you! :) Thanks Daver, my good friend. God bless....-Robert

Such a fresh way of using language, daver. Zits of green - blips. I really like starlings - They make so many sounds! I don't like when they shove sparrows out of their homes though. This is a wonderful, visual and touching poem- Yes, touching. Love for the birds, hate of the dead white winter. Right on! PS I've been writing songs this month, in addition to some poems. Hope all is well. Hugs! :-)

Starlings galore at my feeders today. We also have: 8 sets of Cardinals an many Blue Jays - Gold Finches, Nut hatches, Wood peckers, Junko's etc. I am hoping to get back to the soup soon. Re: the Violin's and cases - Yes! I think that might work. You are a doll. Big Love, Lainie bfn.
