No Regrets On Hills of Destiny

Exploring lovesome impulses of quixotic themes
Promises we exchanged of allures romantic
Enticing maiden passions in realm of fantasies
Strumming heart rhythms’ emboldened music
Embellishing sweet lyrics of enchanted instincts,
Pursuing fervid dreams, longing forever bliss;

But only till you extolled of marriage and family
Seeking permanence from immature feelings
Lacking self-confidence, afraid of uncertainty,
Phobic of commitment, fearful of inabilities;
Youthful, unwitting, timidly choosing to flee,
Abandoning blossoms of life’s budding prairies.

I never wonder what our lives could have been
For you still enchant my unfulfilled memories
Smiling back happily, beaming with your family,
Much alike you envisioned life for you and me
If only I had dared to welcome zealous calling,
Sailing to placid paradise, you once imagined.

But regrets do not dwell on hills of our destinies
For separately we found our voices of harmony
As we stay in touch and revere our blessings
Wishing for each other life’s blooming springs,
Spreading goodwill, lauding wisdom of aging,
Leaving behind fantasies of untrodden themes.

Immaturity causes one to linger and never settle. Someone that is wise and mature, tend to stay grounded, while balancing everything before them. "I never wonder what our lives could have been." A positive thought filled with no regrets. That's how it should be. This is beautiful and emotional, all at the same time. My best to you, Vijay. Hugs, Brandy

Very nicely said, Vijay; your poem brought back many memories, of how things could have been, might have been. Who knows? But not to look back is sheeplish...those memories are just as much our present as they are our past, who we are, where we have been that brings us to our present state of mind and heart. The roads of the many passionate dreams one travels. Profound read. Best of luck in contest, a prime contender I would think. Blessings.

Who knows about such things Vijay, I often wonder about parallel universes, were every conceivable path can be played out alongside this one, if the universe is eternal perhaps anything and everything that’s possible will play out, sorry for digressing, this is a beautiful poem written from the heart, by a person who has no regrets how their life unfurled, cheers David

No regrets.... no looking back, no resentment though paths diverged. The love and romance once thrived have been converted into mature love where both wish for each other's well being. There is acceptance and goodwill. A theme so beautifully handled dear Vijay that you alone can do. Best of luck!
