She died at ninety eight
She knew a time for misery
Hard times and hard work
For pain and suffering
And yes even agony
It all seemed endless
And then it did
There came a time 
For freed spirits
Quietened cries
And answered prayers
There finally came
A time for peace

My great grandmother had 18 children, and we often thought about her being pregnant 14 years of her life; I am claiming this poem in honor of her too, if it's okay.

Yet in those times people just got on with things, I suppose it was considered the norm, people today do not realise how lucky they are.

"Life was rough at the turn to the previous century. This poem is about my paternal grand-mother who raised her 13 kids. I'm sure she had some joy throughout her life but at the end of her life she was in excruciating agony for several months in the hospital. Thanks for your lovely visit and comment, Tom."
