Nightmares From Within

Running through the night, Fear flowing through me. The moonlight shines from above, But I can barely see. Branches whipping at my body, As if they were alive. The wind howls at me, I don't know how to survive. Creatures move all over, Fur, scales, and wings. So many noises all around, The darkness has scary things. It wants to consume me, Take me on a dangerous track. My screams turn to silence, As my world fades to black.

Dominique, your poem reads like a dream sequence with deep meaning. Every dream ends the same as our "world fades to black." We only remember our dreams if we wake up during or immediately after them. This seems like a genuine excursion into the subconscious. Congratulations on your placement in Brian's contest! Best wishes, Carolyn

That's a kind of nightmare that doesn't go away even if u are awaken. You've done a great job in poetically describing it..
