Night Surrender
Night Surrender
Conscience jolting back and forth,
between safety and danger,
as I try to surrender my mind to the darkness
and rescue of my welcoming bed at last.
The cool softness of my pillow seemed to lovingly caress my cheek
and cradle the weight of my unsettled mind.
Closing my eyes, I gave in to calm surroundings, greedily accepting full freedom from restless thoughts.
I gave up and gave in,
ever nearing my selfish escape.
Alone in the peaceful darkness of my refuge, only
one thing’s faintly illuminated in my mind.
The fresh memory of your smile,
the warm intent of kind offers,
the chance to rescue you and rescue me.
My body slid into it’s final perfect pocket,
within the soft embrace of my cloud like bed.
Subtly sensing a comforting fragrance, is it you,
or maybe a sweet mixture of ours together, how inspiring.
No matter whose,
it and a lingering expression,
helps carry me further and further from thoughts...
I’m almost free...
Sweet slumber,
please cradle me until dawn...
