Night-Time In the Garden

Night-time in the garden It's a quarter past the hour Midnight has come and gone, All is peace and quiet There is nothing going on. At least that's what we think As off we go to bed, But lots of little creatures Are waking up instead. There's a hedgehog in the garden Rooting around for slugs, Bats are whirling in the air Catching flying bugs, The cat is underneath the shed Hoping for a mouse, And lots of little spiders Are roaming around the house, There's a rabbit in the hedgerow Munching on a leaf, The fox is near the chicken coop Lurking like a thief, There's a stray dog in the back yard, Rummaging in the bin Pulling all the rubbish out And licking at a tin, A tiny vole is twitching Sitting by the tree, But he's been spotted by the owl Who's looking for his tea. So as we soundly sleep Happy in our dreams, Just outside the window All is not how it seems.

I really enjoy your style. Rhyme IS my favorite type of poetry and you do it very well. I have read a lot of your work and although I do not comment on many, I haven't found one I didn't like. SO true the message in this one. :-)
