New Store Comes To Town
Dreaming of his favorite produce store,
Clears out the cupboard, briskly sweeps the floor.
Making room for carrots and potatoes,
Contemplates the flavors of tomatoes.
Wondering how tall the okra grows,
Envisioning the beets, all nice in rows.
Green beans, green and lush, hang from the vine,
Yellow squash is looking plump and fine.
Peppers, though the hot ones are in question…
Parsley, mint, for nights with indigestion.
Finally, they’re opening the store!
Grabs his keys, is headed out the door,
Electrified, appears no entry way ~
Alas, Groundhog, heartbroken, moves away.
