Notes About The Poem

New Beginnings - a Shadorma

desperate
earth cries, writhes in pain
       ebbing strength
          self defense
not vengeful for extinction
      but new beginning

I agree....same here on our island. A street nearby was lined with silver button wood that takes years to grow. One by one new residents from China have chopped every one down. Usually street trees need county permission but they do it first then claim ignorance of the laws.

Thank you Suzanne! I live on a small island where every little scar is visible; it breaks my heart to see nature being treated badly by a minority who are only interested in gain. ~ Regards // paul

It takes such little effort to be aware of our earth and her needs. I love that this awareness is being taught in our schools because the generations to come will be the benefactors and reap the rewards of a cleaner earth. Your poem conveys such an important message. Brilliant Paul! #7

I agree with you, Connie...it does not take much to understand what is beneficial or not for our earth. Unfortunately not all take an interest, and if earth suffers, so will we in the long run! Thank you for the feedback, and the 'brilliant' comment:) ~ Warm regards // paul

Very short , yet it carries a message and conveys feeling. The words are simplicity themselves but in context they speak volumes on the mind frame, hopes, admissions and future of the author. Emile.

Modern Earth summed up superbly in your words Paul. This wonderful planet that graces our presence delivers cycles. Such is this planets wrath, we must beware our tomorrows. Terrific short poetry ~~ James :)

Absolutely divine! A profound message that we all have to receive and act accordingly! Bravo! Mother earth is grateful! You know Paul, 'Demetrios" means " Son of mother earth" So on behalf of my mother I thank you! Ha-ha. A seven my friend!

Many thanks, Demi, Son of Mother Earth:) Very appropriate name for one who strives hard to draw our attention to Her problems! The least we can do is use our pens to drum some sense into those who wear (or pretend to wear) blinkers! ~ Best regards, my friend. // paul
