New Beginnings

Novel: an arduous venture on which to embark Epic, heroic, a thriller or lark Wresting existence from light or from dark But whatever the challenge, exist it must Extracting its life from whom it must trust Grey are the notions the writer explores Indulgence: reward for all he endures Nigh is the world that sprouts from his mind Nothing prepares for what he may find Inhaled: the thrill as his computer screen Nods in directions he hadn't foreseen Go write that novel, o creative hands Suspect and accept, it shall have its own plans 22 January 2021 Contest: New Beginnings - acrostic Sponsor: John Hamilton

Thanks very much, Sam. Now I just need to encourage myself to take on the middle third of a novel that seems to gave its own roadmap. Thanks for stopping by. Terry

Thank you John. Nice to get a placing with something less comic than my usual output :-)

Hi Alexis. I’ve written two novels and I’m 100 pages into a third. Each and every one has gone in its own direction, with no conscious deliberation in my mind, so much so that I end up surprised at what happened next... even though my own fingers typed what happened next. It’s weird... but I always let the novel have its way. Which can be difficult, when half way through a ‘whodunnit’ the novel tells all. Thanks for your comment, Alexis. Terry
