Never Having To Say You'Re Sorry

With each breath their love grew a love like no other; the world seem to vanish when they were together. She's charming and quick-witted, working class student, a passion love for music, caring, and prudent. He's a "preppy jock ", heir to family fortune. She became his wife without his father's support. Dealing with life struggles, wanting a family, her struggle with knowledge she was dying quickly. On her dying bed her wish was to be embraced, she told him she had no regrets, she had been graced. With the love they had shared as she took her last breath. Aware it was imminent she did not fear death. His father arrived too late, and said, "I'm sorry." His son's response, "Love, Love means never having to say you're sorry." He looked down into her face, no matter how hard he stares, she didn't move, his essence and body marred. He found a woman he loved, truly loved, and she has been taken from him, never again to be. A tear rolled down his check while watching the sky chant alive with color of lavender to vibrant, pink, lustrous orange as the sun descends into the skyline, vanishing into the deepest hue. 10/1/2017

Congratulations on your win. In a poem I wrote about this scene saying, "the girl dies and the father in law takes all." Well done, Congratulations.

Eve, the original movie, Love Story was such a tear jerker. I saw the movie several times, including on T.V. As I read your beautiful and sensitive poem, I cried again. It definitely pulled on my tear ducts and heart strings. Hugs, Sonia.

The last stanza of this write made me cry because this is what the sky looked like after my grandmother died on a November day, it was rose, crimson, orange, red, and yellow, even had a touch of lavender, to a purplish hue! All these colors were mixed and getting darker as the night was approaching! Your poem reminded me of this, it was a wondrous piece of art! I really enjoyed your tremendous poem this morning! What a fantastic write, Great Work!!

Such a wonderful write, I read this book in high school, still haven't seen the movie, but it seems your poem is a little different than the story, but still portrays a beautifully moving love story. Great job, Love, Juli-Michelle
