Notes About The Poem
I live in Florida and I always thought the sway of Palm Trees in a light breeze in the moonlight looks like the erotic sway of dancers, so this poem was born, at least in part, from that thought. The line "hear the beckoning swish" along with "native beauties," and "shadow dance" are all clues that I am talking about a row of palm trees gently swaying on the beach in the moonlight.

Natural Seduction

In the night's gentle quiet,
                                                         feel the whisper of breeze
                                                         the encompassing swirl
                                                         the warmth of its caress.
                                                         Inhale the ocean's brine,
                                                         feel the sea's divine touch,
                                                         languish in the rapture
                                                         of your own renewal.
                                                         Witness the shadow dance
                                                         of the native beauties,
                                                         hear the beckoning swish
                                                         of their alluring limbs,
                                                         succumb to the motion
                                                         of their natural rhythm.
On the sand all fall prey
                                                          to their erotic sway.

This is lovely. To me a test of free verse is if you can read all of the way through without realizing you are not reading rhyme. So much of free verse on these pages is not verse at all but mere prose with no music. As I say in one of my comments on your poetry ( I have just finished every one) I learned to write in rhyme but now I think I can try free verse for your contest. I love your free verse. Love, Joyce.

What a sensational piece of work! Absolutely enthralled to read from you for the first time. This is quite an original piece here. I love how it is structured. I love the words. Looks like you're perfectly in tuned with nature. It's got a spiritual essence to it that screams for the physical. I quite enjoyed reading it. Welcome to poetrysoup by the way! Always, Laura

I love and appreciate your comment. My word choices are key to the flow and feel elements of this poem. Natural Seduction is one of my personal favorites as well. In my later work I began creating what I can only describe as a word map to create my poems and achieve these and other elements. Thank You Kim
