Nation's Heart

May you fly high and always be, the symbol of this nation's heart. Declaring that we are free, as you have from the start. Bright red, blue, and pure white. Numbering each stripe and star. A field made up of dark and light, Tells the story of who we are. You have been there, to witness it all, devastating war, to calming peace. Always steadfast, standing tall. Watching unrest begin, and then cease. You represent our fight to remain free, noted in the proud history of this land. Rising above, unfurled for all to see, but most importantly, to understand. This 4th of July, the utmost respect we pay. To our flag, country, and our freedom, Together one nation, "under God", we will stay. Let what we have learned, become wisdom
