My Wishful Reality
I curled up in my pjs, at the end of the day
with a big bowl of popcorn, salt and butter (my way!)
The remote in my hand, scans our new flat T.V.
I want to escape to a place far away
but, reality programs are all that I see!
I was hooked onto "Idol", I have to admit
and then copycats were on night after night
Why does that happen to shows that are hits?
Oh please, no more "Wife Swaps", I can't stand all the fights
Then people ran races all over the world...
Suvivors build shelters, while storms are unfurled
Women are vying to snatch a red rose
Trailing a bachelor, while his single days close
Hooray for the folks who are losing some weight
While Stars practice dancing, then awaiting their fate
But, I long for old shows...that can move me to cry
The "Abby of Downton", was a in a class of it's own
"Home Fires' burning, on Masterpiece thrones
I want to laugh from my belly, and smile every night
brought smiles, every night
"Hitchcock" was scary and "Twilight Zone" too
"The Fugitive" and "Rockford" were hunting for clues
"Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke" took us out to the west
"Lucy" and "Mash" were the best of the best!!
Real people's problems leave me out in the cold
I'd rather be watching the programs of old
Call me old fashioned...perhaps my day's nearly done
But I spend my night searching for old time re-runs!!
