My Wishful Reality

I curled up in my pjs, at the end of the day with a big bowl of popcorn, salt and butter (my way!) The remote in my hand, scans our new flat T.V. I want to escape to a place far away but, reality programs are all that I see! I was hooked onto "Idol", I have to admit and then copycats were on night after night Why does that happen to shows that are hits? Oh please, no more "Wife Swaps", I can't stand all the fights Then people ran races all over the world... Suvivors build shelters, while storms are unfurled Women are vying to snatch a red rose Trailing a bachelor, while his single days close Hooray for the folks who are losing some weight While Stars practice dancing, then awaiting their fate But, I long for old shows...that can move me to cry The "Abby of Downton", was a in a class of it's own "Home Fires' burning, on Masterpiece thrones I want to laugh from my belly, and smile every night brought smiles, every night "Hitchcock" was scary and "Twilight Zone" too "The Fugitive" and "Rockford" were hunting for clues "Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke" took us out to the west "Lucy" and "Mash" were the best of the best!! Real people's problems leave me out in the cold I'd rather be watching the programs of old Call me old fashioned...perhaps my day's nearly done But I spend my night searching for old time re-runs!! Favorite show: "The Waltons" Carrie Richards For Rick's contest (Rhyme Me An Old TV Show)

I am so with you. Bring back Skelton any day. Now that was a comedian and a real man, talk about reality. Great poem, well thought out and expressed. Thank you for your nice comments. God bless you and your 5 grandbabies.

You and me both!! From Ramar of the Jungle to Circus Boy, Sky King, even the old variety shows. New television shows are being developed for people with single digit IQ's. Jeapordy over deal or no deal anyday. Remember Name that tune, Green Acres, He & She for one season, Cimmaron Strip for 2 seasons. Even the old movies on TCM are better. Cagney and Milland over Stallone and Pitt. Maureen O'hara over Madonna by a long shot. Vince

Hi Carrie - I reckon you and my wife would really hit it off - Her and I mostly watch Gun Smoke, Bonanza, Andy Griffith, Green Acres just to name a few. Everyone (Our Kids) laughs at us and says we are two Dinasours. This was a great poem that just fits us to the tee - I can't wait till she reads it - God Bless you and your Family
