My Wedding Ring

My wedding ring is very plain. It’s just a band of gold And with its mate, it’s like my marriage – Thirty-nine years old. We chose our rings and had them then Inscribed with words intended To last a lifetime; substitutes Are rarely recommended. That ring is like a part of me So I cannot explain How in the shower, it slipped off And tumbled down the drain. We tried to get it back. Alas, It seems to be quite gone. I shed some tears and still feel sad But life and love go on. I’ll search for a replacement and The moment that I choose it, My husband’s new inscription will be, “This time – do not lose it!”

Oh I love this one Ilene, I do hope you will find a replacement but it will never be the same. There is no hope of mine falling off my finger as I have arthritis in that finger and it is swollen so it looks as though I have got it for the rest of my life, I had my engagement and eternity rings cut off a few months back, looking forward to reading number 2. Take care my friend.........Vera..............

Oh Ilene.....I will keep my comments until I've read Part II. I had a ring slip off my finger swimming in the sea. :( Never could get that one back. Hugs

In hundreds of years from now, or perhaps even thousands, that ring will be found! People will look at that plain ring and read the inscription. They will wonder about the person who wore it and to whom the words were dedicated. They will muse about your love for each other and the lives you led together. Gold is immortal - As is your love for each other! Your love and you will live on long after your mortal lives are extinguished. Immortalized forever! Yes...they will wonder...they will wonder!

thank you, peter! the ring is just a symbol, of course, but i'm sentimental so i felt really bad when i thought it was lost forever.

If this is true, what a shame. But I think you can come up with a better inscription. :)
