My Watch Cat

Verdant yard shines in pure greenness. I admire it from my couch on the porch. Cat rubs my body trying to make his nest. Arrogant butterfly walks up and down the glass table. Dog’s panting is unreasonably loud. Chattering monkey sound coming from a tree. Laughing hyena? Crow? Invasive whatever it is. Destroys the quiet ambiance of this lazy afternoon. Ouch! Cat’s claws are puncturing my socks. Walnut tree is full up with bright round walnuts. Cat stalks off with his tiger stalk. Bird feeders are empty thanks to squirrels. To fill them would be entrapment. Dead baby mouse is lying less than a meter from my socked feet. Probably headless if I know Shark like I know Shark. Shark is back, puncturing my pants with his sharpest claws. Some leaves are jiggling slightly from the highest tree branches. The clouds are spectacularly heaven white. Dog prances back, passes deceased mouse without noticing. I have a watch cat, not a watch dog.

I seem to be craving cat poems right now - love how 'Shark' is your watch cat, my cat likes to claw my leg too, and she did bring in a headless bird a while ago - gave me the willies!
