My Two-Faced Muse

My muse can sometimes wear a scoundrel’s face.
He flees and hides behind some desert brush,
abandoning me in a barren place
where sweet imagination has no gush!
Of inspiration I can find no trace.

This villain muse subjects me to a drought
and sets the stage with dreary atmosphere.
He scatters prickly pear and rocks about
while vultures seeking carrion come near.
I fear he’s taken my dear hero out!

Where hides my hero muse inside my mind?
He needs to change this horrid wasteland green
and put the villain side of him behind!
I summon forth my hero – Change the scene!
My quill is out! My hero now I find.

A threat to fire him might keep him in line. Congratulations on your placement.

Beautiful Andrea ! I am sure your muse is no more showing his villainous side. Enjoyed your sense of humor here. Head for a win. All the Best!

Reads like a good contender to me for the contest. Way to go. It sounds kind of scary Halloween in content. Thanks for the visit to my page. Your two comments were supportive. Sara

You describe a discouraging, stifling, cad who just poses as your muse. I'm sure that your true muse will return post haste! Robert

Andrea your muse is on steroids. Your ability to write day after day is a feat few can do. Hugs

Thanks, Michael. I basically force myself to do it and often I have no idea what I am going to end up with. Sometimes it is hard to get started and have an idea form at all! those are the villain days.

I don't think I've ever noticed a drought of a poetic muse from you. Whenever I've been with you, you always seem in thought and ever dreaming beautiful words to flow out through your pen.

it's happened a few times to me, Jenny. And I hate when it happens, but thankfully, I usually get over it and write something eventually. Thanks so much for your support, Sis.

Indeed, it's a dilemma because the muse can be kind or a scoundrel. I envy the ease when you write in iambic. You know I tried once and failed. Hugs
