My True Sure Foundation
In this life, we hold too many things
but so many fly past in the night
with no substitute to grip upon
you're left helpless nothing in sight
But there's only one true sure foundation
that is God himself in the person of His Son
the Lord Jesus Christ my saviour and friend
He sticks by me always till everything's done
This Jesus took all my sins away
on the cross at Calvary He died for me
what love and sacrifice He displayed
stripped bare for all there to see
Jesus is my sure and certain rock
sticking closer than any brother
one day He'll return taking me home
this my true anchor better than any other
What a foundation to place my feet
so solid and certain eternally sure
my Lord holds me in hollow of His breast
safely my soul secure forever at rest
('For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.') Hebrews 11: 10 (ESV)
