My Tribute To Anne-Lise, Poet Destroyer and Skat

When I joined soup they rolled out the welcome mat Anne-Lise, Poet Destroyer and her lovely sister Skat I felt so excited that my poem had been read - As the idea of posting had filled me with dread! They all work so hard to build a community To welcome new people who write poetry There are many other people I would love to mention But I’ve only ten lines; Andrea won’t give an extension! On Friday it was the 3 year anniversary of my husbands cancer surgery and the date of me writing my first poem 'splendid Isolation' I look back over the notes I wrote and it saddens me the lack of support I had from my family as dad wouldn't let me tell my mum. it was only August last year I told her when my interview was going to be on the radio and it said how I had started writing... how my life has changed since I first picked up my pen! hugs Jan xx

We had a friend in Holland called 'Jan' which was pronounced as 'Yan' sorry you've had a tough time .. me too, but starting to write poetry in 2013 has been my life saver:-) hugs Jan xx

Hardly ever you couldn't have done better than that dearest, Jan! They are great ladies. Anne-Lise I know very well and has been there since the beginning of time. P.D. and SKAT have welcomed me as well and I am grateful for that! Good luck!

Yes Jan, were it not for Skat, PD and S1 welcoming me, I probably would have just moved on to something else.Anne-Lise, I just don't know what to say about her. She is always so kind, cheerful, almost childlike in her innocence. She is truly a joy and her visits always make me smile:) (She loves dogs too!)Great tribute, Jan

Those initial interactions are so so important Anne Lise - it made me feel so so special that someone was actually reading my poem - incidentally that first poem Just Deserts I will be reciting at our Gaiety theatre at a charity event in November along with 7 stanzas from my men you wouldn't want to date poems:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks Craig:-) I can't believe how prolific I have been especially as I confess I HATED poetry when I was at school I found it so boring all I can remember was war poetry... since I started writing I have been into the local high school where i worked to talk to 6th form students about creative writing and I will be on stage at our main theatre on 18th November reciting 2 poems at a charity event ... what a turn around !:-) hugs Jan xx
