My Town

My kind of town is a village by the sea. Where we grew up, my siblings and me. Roaming free from dawn 'till dusk. Home for evening tea, as we must. Summers by the beach, paddling, swimming. Diving off the pier, strongest swimmers winning. Music playing from our Music Shop. Or Mum in our Pharmacy, while caring for us lot. School overlooking beautiful bay. Taken for granted as we went outside to play. Friendships we made then still going strong. It's amazing how well we all get along. Hitching a lift to local dances. Slapping the hands of boys taking chances. Would love to be a child again. In that old fashioned world, way back when.

I was on the Mississippi river growing up. It's nearly as good as by the sea. Love this, Jean. By the way, my mom is Jean!!! I love the song about your name!

I have visited this beautiful place. got lost even, and had fun doing so. I could live on your island, but my husband too is an island guy and he likes the warmth of Hawaii. I delighted in watching your sky view all the way through. It is beautiful there and I long to visit again. I enjoyed your poem about a lovely past that is no longer the same. Thank you for this sweet treat! 7 ; )

I suggested to Jan a meeting in Limerick Connie. I am just thinking that would be not so far from Shannon airport. We could hire a bus. I could be the tour guide....LET'S DO IT!!!!

Such a touching poem Jean - I wouldn't want to be growing up now - our childhood was so so simple and there wasn't a computer or mobile phone in sight - its a totally different world for them now. Hugs Jan xx

In comparison to children of today, it was a kind of utopia Paloma. We just didn't know it at the time.

If that an open invite, be-careful, I might move in for a while! :)

Remember I thought you and Tim were in Ireland?? I had the kettle on then. If you are often in Paris, then parachute down sometime you're passing over Arthur. I would love to meet you. My sister was stunned by the scenery we had such lovely weather for her visit from Australia. Unusually for this time of year, the leaves are not already blown off the trees.

Watching that clip brings tears to my eyes Tim. Mum, Dad, our aunt next door, all dead. I live only 40 minutes away now, this past 30 years. But home is always home, isn't it Tim? My sister in Australia cannot shake off her roots at all and longs for us.
