There were moments when I couldn’t pray
Days when I just went my own way
I let God down… didn’t give Him esteem
The respect that He should have had
When I realized He was my Father, my Dad
The One who gave my heart it’s chance
To be filled with love, hope and assurance
Faith that would light up the stars and moon
With the promise that lives inside of me
There were times when I couldn’t feel grace
Instances when I wasn’t sure of anything at all
I let God take my hand and lead me through
The valleys, across the hills, through the pastures
Where I yearned to find my way toward inspiration
The light that flowed down to me from above
Where God answered the prayers I prayed
With unconditional love – kindness that breathed
Answers to all the prayers I might have pleaded
There were days when I couldn’t find the light
The hue of brilliant hope that lit up my thoughts
With gentle feelings of wonder, creativeness
Warmth that comes from knowing grace lives
Within the one who listens to the spirit of His love
Whispering to the heart about compassionate
Consideration, giving, exhilaration that comes
Alive when the dance of love gives back those
Joys on the inside, joys from knowing God’s light
There have been good times and bad times
Happy times and sad times, grace and grief
Joy and peace, everything I’ve believed, somedays
Has been questioned and suspected, mistrusted
By the very ones I believed to care the most
Still, that still small voice has murmured to me
Through the noise that comes from confusion
Instructing me to abide in Him, listen to His voice
The sensation that comes from knowing Grace
Faith in His love – the gift that comes from above!
In Him, I found myself – the child who listens
To the whisper of His gentle voice – His breath
Against my naked heart, where I can always know
Faith that leaves no question to doubt, no worry
To cloud my judgement or discredit my knowing
God is everywhere, everything, the answer to every need!
God is my hope, my faith, my grace – the light that guides
Me through the storms of life – the light of my very soul!
In Him, I can always know – I have all that I will ever need
To go through life and reach heaven someday, some way
With the soul that He gave me to guide me toward home
God is my very best friend! With Him leading, I know
The way – and I will always pray to stay in His grace
