My Sadness Wears a Smile - Repost

My sadness wears a smile - Repost

“My darkness shall forever see, the happiness you brought to me”

My sadness wears a smile
when my eyes are closed,
keeping me from seeing
what waits outside
on that lonely pathway
leading through the park
we always talked about walking

Our song plays on the radio
and I hear it calling
in the darkness,
the melody is soft and drifting,
echoing through the room
in the sweetest harmonies of
you and me

The taste of your euphoric kiss
still lingers upon my lips
as I dare not speak
for fear of losing the sensation
that caressed me in a feeling of ambrosia,
desperate for the moment
to be unending

I encounter your eyes staring, floating
in my sorrowed mind,
mahogany planets
hypnotically orbiting this vast space
that engulfs me, remnants of a dream,
circling the universe, eclipsing an April moon
we once called ours

And as I hold the poetry you sent,
I do not see the words
promising forever love
but caress the paper
folded neatly to fit
snuggly in the envelopes
addressed to me,
never to let go

Still I cannot look because
when my eyes are opened
they are filled with tears
for the endless days ahead
without you here,
but closed I can see
what we had together

Reminding me that if
I had never had you in my life,
the beauty that we shared
might not have been and without you
my sadness would not be able to
wear this smile remembering how it felt,
to be loved by you

Woweee, Chris, what a gem. You have inspired me with your poems before, but this one just takes my breath away. A real man never shy to express his love for his Lady. That's just my opinion. Chris, I am going to save this in my fave and thank you for sharing it with us... Hugs :) Kina

Thank you Kina, so very much. If I can take your breath away with my poetry then it was worth writing. I appreciate all of your kindness my friend. I am so thrilled you enjoyed this and what you felt from it. That makes me smile.

Dear Chris. A beautiful heartfelt expression and work of poetry from the heart and soul could never ever be a repost. Never ever. It is considered being placed up front and center to be seen read and felt. Poetry is about heart soul expression and emotion. This entry has all the above. It truly is most beautiful in its entirety. Be proud. Just in case you still don't know it is an honor each and every time I read your work for you are a composer. Have a wonderful night.

That sadness, that smile, all together. It makes me sad inside, for i can feel those feelings, and it has something that is very endearing too, and makes me want to wrap my arms around you and hug you. All that. And that last stanza, yeah. Thank you for reposting.

You are one of a club of geniuses! As usual my comment to you will reference me, but in the future my compliments will be pure, since I'm not writing more poems. You might appreciate how effective your criticism to Crocs Ramble has been. It is no longer "all over the place"; just pure, coherent Ramble. Thus your comment has become obsolete. Could you please remove it? (And leave a new comment, if you wish)

I can't remove it because it has been too long now. Just delete your poem and that will solve the problem. You can repost it afterward and my comment will be gone. I am not sure why you keep asking me to delete comments I have left but I just will not comment your direction anymore and you won't have to worry about my comments ending up on your work.

Chris, this is such a powerful poem. It reaches the reader's heart directly. The longing, the feelings, everything. So well expressed.

Thanks so much Rick. It is one I posted when I first arrived at soup and didn't have many readers and it is one of my favorites, so I thought I'd bring it up again. I am happy you liked it.
