No time to be mushy, I'm leaving now
Just open the room and under my bed,
Find Grandma’s ‘ Ulysses’-- first edition
Take it to the pawn shop; cash it instead.
A recipe is hidden on the wall,
“ Slice thistle, nectarine in a vessel
Mix with licorice until boiling point,”
Drink the juice, to cast off infectious spell.
By the way, once an insurance guy comes
Feel at ease, testaments of my love drip
Including Walgreen coupons due next week…
A mother’s gifts, as I finally slip.
