My Paintings Call My Name

My art delights me, covers my walls.
Smiling, dancing, laughing magical beings.
Reminding me how much I love to choose colors.
Appreciated by no one as much as myself.

Proud neon colors saturate my house,
My artwork is in nearly every room,
Each room a challenge. Which one is the best?
Which one would I choose for painting of the week?

I am obsessed with the pure joy and excitement
I receive as I choose my colors, plowing through my paints.
I know exactly what color each bottle and squeeze tube makes.
Happily painting my whimsical creatures, I am choosy about it.

Almost every painting includes a woman, and I start with her eyes.
Every single time, drawing the two orbs first, or one if I want her
To appear to be looking sideways. Every single time. No exceptions.
I have never begun a painting that did not start with the eyes.

Pirates, dragons, unicorns, faeires, elves, and mushroom houses
Laugh at me from my covered walls. Seventy’s peace sign and hippies.
In hip-hugging bell bottoms, are burning their bras in my living room.
They make me happy, and they make me laugh. They are whimsical.

Ladybugs, peacocks, tulips, flower gardens, lily of the valley, horses too.
My art delights me, brings my mood from minus twelve to one hundred and sixty.
In a few minutes, I can take an empty canvas and turn it into an original piece
Distinctly mine, I doubt I have to sign them. They all call my name, and loudly.

Hi Caren, Seven a lucky number in nature? Perhaps, though somewhat rare. Most mammals have seven cervical vertebrae. Seven pure tones in the diatonic scale in music. Seven colors in visible spectrum (aka rainbow). Ladybirds have seven spots. -Richard

I like seven myself; it is prevalent in my life but I do have a deep connection with nature; I am a child of nature.

Caren, Lovely is your joy of painting poem that calls, somewhere Bob Ross is smiling & nodding. Do they still call your name, I wonder., the peace signs and bra burning hippies? -Richard

LOVE and FAV this! I doubt you would have to sign your poetry either, because it is so beautifully YOU, my friend! I smiled when I read the part about your hippies burning their bras in your living room! hahahaha (This raised my mood, too!)

First of all, I had to "Fav"; too whimsical to not, "fav". Second, you begin with the eyes; eyes being the, "windows of the soul", don't you think they know who Mom is when they look back at her? Now, have I blown your mind?

Yes, I do think you are right. Being the MOM of all of these paintings. I am suddenly wanting to snap some of them up and make them better, and make them behave this time!

Sounds lovely! I like how you start with the eyes! That’t the feature I always notice!

I cannot believe there is no way I can start with anything else. My ONLY rut, I do believe.

I have no idea what that is, but I am indeed honored. The anniversary of my first year on this site is coming up _ February 15th, next Saturday, and one of my children's birthdays is my first year here. Thank you for telling me.
