Notes About The Poem

My Name Is Scheherazade

I do not want to die
Like each virgin you bed
When you have ravished her
It's off with pretty head

I do not want to die
But…Oh to be with you!
The supreme ruler, KING
So handsome, yet so cruel

You wanted your revenge
On woman who betrayed
The one who broke YOUR heart
So you must have them slayed

But what am I to do
When brought before the throne?
When you have had your fill
You’ll bow to oath you’ve sworn

And here I am tonight
The Vizier's flesh and blood
My beauty may not save
So knowledge I impart

A story sweet I weave
As in peace you recline
On cushions of damask
In scented room divine

You’re lost in what I say
Your interest...at its height
And there I stop the tale
To be spared on this night

You ask to lie with me
Demurely, I refuse
I promise you delights
When I'm no longer Muse

And so you let me leave
The richness of your bed
Wanting to know the end
My tale plays in your head

Each night I leave undone
The story on my lips
And wantonly you beg
While grasping shapely hips

One thousand nights have passed
I stand before you now
With no tale left to give
Will love suffice somehow?

You come and touch my cheek
I look up in your eyes
"I've come to love you now
You are my love, my prize."

And so my life is spared
You whisper, "Sweetest Dove!"
My stories all forgot
You've fallen for my love

You tell me through the night
Your own love story fine
And now I let you taste
My flowing luscious wine

No virgin girl…now Queen
My love has set you free
And now Arabian nights
Are filled with ecstasy!

A woman of wit, a beauty starlit, a seduction of gorgeous gambit...first for life, then for love you dared, and a King's heart is spared...BRAVO oh sweet Scheherazade...a regal woman you are! Its so enchanting how they come to love eachother, hearts both scared, he of love and she of being misunderstood, underappreciated, yet they find a treasure in one another. The atmosphere is so exquisite with enthrallment, her talents mysterious charm. A marvelous love poem Eileen...J.A.B.

I see myself in her, Justin. I read up on her to get more information. She was very knowledgeable and well read. Her stories must have been enthralling. :) To have that kind of power and sway over a monarch....how thrilling. The risk was very real....her very own life was at stake. Yet...she wooed him out of sword of spirit of revenge. :) Scheherazade must have been dripping with the sweetness of wild honey...Thank you for your lovely visit, My Eagle.

Stories that enchant the heart -- allowing us to see, feel, do, explore, conquer, love . . . what adventures occur over a 1000 nights . . . but the biggest was the forgiveness that over came a tainted love and the embrace of a true love. How I thoroughly enjoy a good story -- especially when it is told by a black hair, dark eyed beauty! 7 Love and light My Queen!

Sir Richard the Lion Heart, Sir Justin the Love-Warrior, Sir Paul the True-Heart, Jan the Valiant Heart, Broken Wing of the Dark Forest, Bev of the Golden Waters . . . the list goes on . . . your stories/poems fills our hearts with adventures -- Your mighty Knight who fights all who question your beauty and sweet love

Oh David...the black hair dark eyed beauty being the woman in the pics, eh? ;) My Queen...delightful, my dear. Very delightful. I'm glad you enjoyed this piece. It's been on my mind for some time. What a woman she was to be able to keep his demons at bay....We are all storytellers with our writes. Can we make our readers fall in love with us? That is the question. HUGS to you....David.

:) Thank you, my dear. An enchantress I long to be.... :) She was saved by her great story telling skills...and in time, the King came to see the beauty behind the stories...the heart of the storyteller....After 1001 nights, she became his wife. Isn't that sweet??? I wonder how often we see the writer behind the words...Thanks for the lovely visit, Shane. I got a busy week ahead of me. This is my last hurray for some time. Hugs
