My Monster
There's a monster in my house,
It follows me around.
There's a monster in my bed,
People think it's in my head.
There's a monster in my life,
It's always caused me strife.
There's a monster you can't see,
Because it's inside of me.
There's a monster that is hurting,
Army doctors said I was shirking.
There's a monster, it's in my back,
The army saw nothing there, so go pack.
There's a monster, it hurts me, doctor mine,
He said I'll open and look inside your spine.
That monster, he said, is not in your head,
I have found that your back's been broken.
The problem was so hard to see today,
Because it didn't show up on any X ray,
I had to open your back so that I could see,
When I looked very close, it was clear to me.
So I fixed you after your years of pain.
Your monster will never come back again.
Just be careful in all that you do,
And life will be much better for you.
So I took his advice, as I slowly got fit,
My monster is gone but I'll never forget it.
