My Love's Eyes

Of course, love has preferences:
I prefer eyes sort of like, yours.
Misty at times,
And at others, deeply dark and
Startlingly invasive – no point
In trying to keep secrets from such
Penetrating eyes. Then there are those
Moments of unsettling absence. I attempt
Vainly to enter your silence, gain needed
Access to mysterious inner parts kept
From me...I try to cross the meridians
Keeping souls necessarily private, where
One meditates and prays in solemnity. My need to
For safe familiarity, juxtaposed with
With strange planets and alien landscapes
Each mortal possesses and senses to
Sacredly guard. Yet I track your disturbing
Aloofness. As a hound on the scent. Into
Whirlpools of privacy where no uninvited
Sojourner has right to venture. No one
Should attempt to know another that entirely,
That consuming. Yes, love has preferences. Like
Your dainty bell ears, and adorable ski nose --
And very large feet~ all for the next poem.

we can't and probably should expect to know 100% about another person. We need our individual 'space' to explore and grow....rambling, sorry.

I agree. God is the only one who knows everything about us. And He ain't talking...so, we are safe in that respect.

Privacy is each man's right. Even a partner shouldn't intrude into the private corners of her beloved's heart. Enjoyed your poem describing the misty, deep and penetrating eyes of your beloved. So we can expect a series of poems on her other body parts, soon.

No one Should attempt to know another that entirely, That consuming...yes, perhaps, and yes, there are hidden parts. Likewise, we can never know God thoroughly. Is it the mysteries that draw us, yet the knowledge of who a person (or God) is. We can’t even know ourselves - even from us, there are hidden things. A fun and lovely write.

Thank you, Kim, for the kind support. Yes, writing should be fun, not overly analyzed as people should also be allowed their privacy to some extent. I'm fairly open about myself, but it does annoy me to be in a conversation with someone that makes me feel like I'm under Grand Jury indictment. The problem is, so few people are able to exist in the eternal moment. Most people reply on protective personalities they have developed to cope with the world. They are not only programed by parents, acquaintances, life experiences, but more important, programed by themselves -- never really spontaneously functioning on an unfiltered soul level. Even the thought to attempt such a thing frightens the heck out of them. To just be one's self. Too much unsettling pressure.

Seems kind of like a take on that one sonnet of Shakespeare with that same humor popping up at the end with her very large feet! Yes there has to be something totally private inside each of us

Don't know that I ever read that one. Maybe, can't recall. Great minds think alike. We have the same birthday -- of course, many centuries apart. Perhaps he was just attracted to the same kind of women I like. Throughout history my Love can't be the only Love with big feet. So much fun to write. Whatever pops into my mind I just go with. My mind is so creatively active I never feel need to get inspiration from outside of me.
