My Love Is Not a Blinding Blizzard

My love is not a blinding blizzard, after all, Descending quickly, sweeping you off your feet, As though we were forever predestined to meet, Then hurriedly moving on to another’s faint call. My love comes slowly, more like a snail’s crawl Slowly building momentum each time we embrace Every time I touch your hand or see your face, For I am one who follows old-fashioned protocol. Do not think I’ll be the common suitor you’ve had Who came on strong and quickly turned your head But then behaved like a suave, but merciless, cad Thinking only of enticing you into his lustful bed I am listening while you tell of past amours, so sad, But, I have found you, my love, and my heart is glad.

The ending line is "But, I have found you, my love, and my heart is glad" the epitome of happily ever after Hank!

Yep, when I'm not writing for a contest, I can do a fair job because I just let my Muse run free. Trixie would love it.

I like how you describe love like 'a snail's crawl' - not blinding but slowly building over time to something sturdy and secure, that is what I have with my own special someone~

Love this sonnet, Milt. A beautiful expression of the way lasting love usually begins. Rhyming was exceptional. A poet friend, Bill

Thanks so much, Bill, because you write sonnets so well. I manage one now and then. I do like the format for the Italian Sonnet.
