My Last Day At School
Take everything you ever want to see again
From your office tomorrow
My principal said the day before spring break
But a parent and a sobbing child were in there
So I grabbed my phone and tiptoed away
Thinking I would have time tomorrow to collect things
The next day we were told to not report to work
For a week, then two, then ten days.
I have a multitude of feelings.
Most of them culminating in a field of loss
Loss of life as I knew it two weeks ago
Before I had ever heard the word pandemic
