The city can be an unfriendly place,
harboring schemers that prey on the weak,
the timid, and the insecure.
I was never comfortable
in a big city environment.
I spent my youth in a small village
nestled in the woods,
officially in the suburbs of nowhere.
And I've never considered myself
particularly confident
when away from home.
But all that changed
the day I met you.
We wooed; we were wed,
and we settled into a place of our own;
where, for the first time in a long time,
I felt I belonged.
My anxieties disappeared
setting my fears free,
and I can't explain it,
other than to say, I feel loved;
for when I'm with you, I'm home.
