My Heart Will Rise

A leaf, I sail on my reverie in your life’s stream, until I reach the sea your tender touch I’ll retain. You won’t turn to feral flood, break all my dreams, for in your fluid arms my heart wants to repose again. A bird, I fly in the azure infinitum of your seamless sky, when the clouds carry the storm, so assured I remain, you won’t let it wriggle my whispering wings, I won’t cry, for in your heart's fervent firmament I will soar again. A pebble, I sparkle with pearls on waves of your sea, as they break singing to me, I roll, your touch I contain. You won’t let the rainstorm surge, dump me in the debris, for on the shore of your yearning my heart wants to lie again. If you shatter the longing of my heart you’ll see in surprise, picking scattered love for you from the dust my heart will rise August 7. 2020 Contest : Heart Truth Sponsor : Chantelle Anne Cooke
