Charonnet
Invented by  Charles Messina. A poem with a rhyme scheme (ABAB, CCDD, EFGH, II). Also in the last "stanza" NOT the couplet. You must re-arrange the words in lines AB & AB in the first stanza. (8) syllables in each line, no more or less.

It hurt watching you run away in tears; I paced the floor all night. Tell me what words will make you stay with me and be my guiding light. You're my friend and shield, hard as steel, part fantasy yet, so real. When you said you loved me, I laughed, and you must have thought I was daft. Watching you run away in tears I paced the floor all night; it hurt. What words will make you stay with me and be my guiding light? Tell me. I laughed, thinking you spoke in jest, for of all my friends, you're the best. (Charonnet) 09-10-2020
