My Granddaughter
She sits with her head tilted over her shoulder
The typical sixteen-year-old, or not much older,
Her long brown hair sweeps down to her spine
This sweet graduating granddaughter of mine.
Her eyes sparkle and her smile lights the room
Boys see her coming, and their hearts go varoom
It’s abundantly clear she is happy as a girl can be
And I am thrilled she sent this portrait to me.
