My Friend Was Right

For years, I voted just one way in the national elections. One friend I knew had this to say: "Both parties have imperfections. It won't matter even one whit to vote one way or another. Each candidate is a dimwit," argued my poetic brother. "Well, I think that there is a side much better (for whom I will vote,") to my poet friend I replied. I look back at this and take note: My friend was right; that I now see. and the party I thought was best sucks worse now, ironically! With my friend's wisdom I'm impressed! Hello Andrea ... I'm impressed by your friend also. A politician is hard to find who has any scruples - thank you Andrea - Lindsay

A lot of wisdom in this poem, Andrea, if one can make sense of no political sense at all. All the oldies i known, have the same problem, whom to vote for, mainly because everything is of much sameness today, and that basically is because the politician do not have leadership, being they are puppets of the ghostly shadows that run the place.

Excellent observation Andrea. I have long said that when we vote we actually pick between two evils. We vote for the lesser of the two and hope he doesn't screw it up any more than it already is. Love this. Tell it like it is Girlfriend. God Bless, JB

George Washington predicted political parties would be the ruin of this nation and should be banned. Like everything else, parties evolve. Candidates are now selected according to the wealth they can bring to the Party, and Members of Congress vote for the best interests of their Party rather than the best interests of their constituents and/or the nation. You are quite right to want to vote for the person you think can best do the job rather than a Party! We can learn from Asia!

In Communist countries, political parties always rule to benefit the Party. Check out Froma Harrop's article, "Republicans like Colin Powell becoming a vanishing breed" Aloha!

Very cool, Andrea. Find me a perfect being and let me know! I think we all have weaknesses and yes strengths. Voters never beat themselves over the head,,,it’s always someone else’s fault. WaTch the comments, nobody will except personal responsibility. No party is perfect. But then, neither are any one of us, Best wishes. Pangie

I agree that all have defects. Choose the one with the least imperfections.

Your friend was right; you were left. Your friend saw that you were voting for pure theft... Now you've 'righted the ship.' Smiles, Gershon

Andrea, they do all the time! But the two party system outweighs the little ones, I have voted all over the place...money must be put in to win. People are cheap, they think just to vote gets someone in. Takes cash and gazillions of volunteers..,,, Pangie

My friend is neither left nor right. I have claimed to be Independent for a long time. It's so sad that Independents do not even have anyone to vote for!

It's hard to make, and elections can be divisive; excellent theme, Andrea. Best wishes for the contest.

SO we live and take note Many years back Sometimes Older people would tell me this but Young idealism is not always inclined to harken Andrea, old and new are each three letter words That share the same page or screen and world Scenes there are varying shades of corruption I Observe and all humans are flawed so what do We expect? And yet hope is eternal, so I will say No more but reflect and refresh my hope for God who is the help of the helpless, will not Utterly forsake those who trust in Him

Now if you put “My Husband” in front of that title we would be witnessing a modern day miracle. Sorry I had to go there. *lol* I do agree that voting is becoming increasingly difficult.

When I said "me", i was talking about myself. I don't know, Pangie, which ME you are referring to!! Did something get lost in interpretation here??

Reminder Richard,,,remember in the ME, people stood in line to vote and were shot dead by the dozens? I do. Painful to recall those scenes. Americans need to live under Sharia law, They would change their tune, don’t you think? Pangie

haha. On THIS point, my husband has always agreed with ME! (I think he just kind of follows what I say because he hardly understands politics any more than I do)
