My Foolish Heart

A sleek crack is split open in the rocky ledge of your garden by a sapling growing in splendor, free from confined burden. A lone bud blooms unnoticed blushing with patina of spring within my heart like a luring flower called love mesmerizing. In scintillating stream of zooming zephyr you waft past me, blow a sensuous storm of ardent fervor swathed by ecstasy. I hold the frayed flower close to my broken heart in disarray, lest to the obscure bleakness of void wilderness it flits away. Suffused with the diffused drizzle of the shimmering twilight, you disappear beyond the gloomy garden once full of delight. Your ignoring footsteps I see trample the flower as you depart, its crumbled petals wrap the strewn pieces of my foolish heart. _______________ April 3, 2022 Contest : My Foolish Heart Cash Prize Sponsored by : L Milton Hankins
