~ the innocent years before any of the disappointments of life ~
Listen to poem:
As a child
I had such
Uncomplicated
Dreams
Simply
Wanted to
Jump & Run
Laugh & Sing
Draw & Count
Create & Invent
Learn & Share
Pick flowers & Build things
Be kind & Make friends
Eat ice cream
Buy penny candy
Swing in the park
Draw pretty things
Expand my wings
Become a teacher
My dreams were simple
I wanted to be free
To become the me
I was meant to be
Little did I know
Years later
I would be stripping away layers
Trying to retrieve
That beautiful little curious kid within
Who would never grow up
But just learn to stay quiet
Alone and forgotten
Just waiting to be set free
