My Five Senses
there are perfectly magical days
when I’m easily overcome
with appreciation for my five senses
a multitude of prompts can trigger reactions
that tingle to the depths of my being
the sound of wind chimes
in the summer breeze
be it metal bamboo sea shells or glass
the sight of sunflower fields
as far as the eye can see
the sudden aroma of lilac
afloat on a puff of air
the taste of delightful raindrops
upon my parted lips
the feel of a soft purring cat
desiring nothing more than a caress
my soul lives for these gifts
