My First Day At School
There it was on my own calendar
school day was just round the corner
I had lived with my mum and dad
an adopted lad feeling no foreigner
So it was my time to start school
for the first time among such a lot
at primary school me and my stammer
how would I cope? stressed or not!
Well 9am came so in I did go
into the classroom full of fright
told to sit down right in back
the daylight darkened to my night
Teacher did register starting front
so I'm thinking at back I'll be last
with each child name mine gets closer
my inside was like bomb set to blast
So my turn came tongue so dry
it duly blocked with air so rare
but it did eventally speak at last
so relieved to get it out there
Many more experiences like that to come
throughout my life words be up and down
but never gave up kept fighting on
for God's on my side so don't frown!
