My Encounter With Little Man
Little Man is barely ten. His birthday was last month.
He has already chased a veteran teacher away.
She retired in the middle of the school year
Which rarely ever happens.
Today I saw Little Man in the hallway.
He was wearing a deep dark angry scowl.
I caught his eye and he put his arm straight out.
I got closer and he gave me a tight hug and quick smile.
Seconds later the deep scowl was firmly in place.
No one saw but we both knew the scowl was an act.
I asked his teacher if I could come in to teach a lesson.
While I was in there we both complimented him in low voices.
