My Empty Bed

My Empty Bed I woke up last night dreaming That you were by my side I looked over at my empty bed But, you were only on my mind So, I got up and made some coffee On the couch in the living room I sat sleepy eyed, just staring Out the window at the moon Just then, I felt a shiver And a fear of loneliness In your eyes, I felt so peaceful But your lips, I’ve never kissed I wish I were a better man Or at least, the “type” you like But I won’t change the man I am And it’s not worth the fight If again I wake up dreaming And I find you on my mind Instead, I’ll drink some whisky And let my dreams go blind © 2017 Jeffrey Spencer
