My Dower

My Dower By Kalyani Rajalingham Is it this sad world or my eyes? That betrays the weakness of burden’s weight, For he who bears great sorrow with resignation, Who welcomes notions of death, poverty, and mighty misfortune, Finds hidden in his repining breast, The deepest sorrows and strife, He is no happier than you, my friend, He bows to destiny and challenges life, Like the mother who bears her child, He is strength in the rapture life, He carries all burdens, Who dares dispute my dower?
