My Child

I fell in love with you
before you were born.

You've gifted me
challenged me
frustrated me
challenged me
delighted me
challenged me
snuggled me...

oh

and have I mentioned
challenged me?

When you were born
I believed children could chase butterflies
and climb trees
and play spin-the-bottle
and sometimes even be hateful to one-another.

The worst thing that could happen in that
fantasy world
is a parent would step in and
demand attention
and discipline
and changes in youthful behavior.

The worst thing
in other words
was that our parents would call us out.

I did not grow up in a world where
people could end up legally dead
for going to the 7-11 to buy
candy and soda.

It floors me that
you have to grow
up in that
kind.

Sad indictment of the current way of life Nancy, a tragic story; many thoughts on this and how to act against it ..) Also many realizations of historical deeds of horror..! and the diverse positions of people that did similar awfull things i wish you well..Joe..

Ah, you have no idea how close to home this is for me. Locally, something so horrible happened . Tori Stafford was an 8 year old girl who was kidnapped and killed. The trial has begun, and the truth of the crime have finally been revealed. A young woman kidnapped the child, gave Tori to her boyfriend and walked away, listening as the child screamed while she was molested. Then the woman killed her with a hammer. It was tori's first walk home from school alone. I am terrified. Hugs, honey! Cyndi

I'm more and more coming to the belief that the "human" species is actually two species... I call them people and zombies and I guaranfuckintee ya that skin color, religion, sexual orientation and all of the other crap we've been trained to dictate our discretion into has no relevance in determining which is which. The relevance is in the light.

Yes, white. It is all so awful. Her mother was a drug addict. The animal who took her was a drug dealer. I have heard of the case you are talking about. A clear case of racial hate and injustice. Sicko world. In Nova Scotia a biracial couple had a cross burned on their lawn two years ago. Animals all around.

Tragic, but at least there's a trial. The guy who killed Trayvon has not been arrested yet and Monday will be a month. Was the girl you're talking about a white girl?
