My Broken Heart

My heart is full of love,
Healthy and pumping
Joy around my veins,
Except for one shattered corner.
The piece you broke
When you distanced yourself,
When you spoke to me unkindly,
When you treated me unfairly,
When you made me feel worthless.
I keep the hurt well hidden,
Under the shadow of pain
Paralysed by the suffering you caused.
Occasionally the frost melts slightly
But then the tears fall,
A plethora of emotions,
Love, regret, pity, truth.
Who are you?
How did you become this person?
Where is my lovely son?
I pray to God for you
And I live in hope
That one day you will repair
My broken heart.

My dearest Elizabeth I thought you had written that for me but then when I saw "My lovely son" I realized it was not! Well my dearest friend with the broken heart, as painful as it is for the parents the children belong to God. You did the best you could and so did I but children are entities and have a life of their own so welcome to the club! We should not forget that love is to give without expecting to receive. One day they will realize they are wrong! Excellent writing dear Elizabeth!

Oh Demetrios thank you for your kind words. I try to keep telling myself that I only had him on loan from God and he is now following his own path. I'm not on my own then, you know how I feel. Live in hope x

This is very sad, Elizabeth. As much as it pains us, our children must find their own way.
