Mountains, Pebbles and Sand

Isolation from familiarity Leaves me alone with my thoughts Leading to insanity My exterior facade of calm Illusions of stability and repetition of life Fear sneaks upon me I stub my toe walking This seemingly clear path In this landscape I see mountains Imagine the summit's view This trail requires faith -- not shoes I choose to take off my sandals Better to feel pebbles between my toes Than to wonder about sensations This adventure of life Next time I stroll upon fine sand I will remember the pebbles Gratitude fills my heart Familiarity blankets my being
